How it works

  1. Capture. The accelerometer is band-passed to the road-roughness band (~0.5–20 Hz) and gravity is removed using the device orientation.
  2. Score. Vertical roughness RMS per 10 m bin maps to a 0–100 Road Quality Score, using IRC roughness bands for context.
  3. Aggregate. Many passes over the same road combine with Bayesian updating, so a busy road gets a confident score and a single ride stays clearly uncertain.
  4. Publish. Only aggregated, endpoint-trimmed data appears on the map. Raw individual traces are never shown.
